Władysław Grochowskie odebrał Nagrodę Nansena w Genewie.

-Nie możemy zamknąć oczu i zatkać uszu na wołanie milionów uchodźców o pomoc – mówił Władysław Grochowski podczas Światowego Forum na rzecz Uchodźców w Genewie, odbierając Nagrodę Nansena, przyznawaną przez Wysokiego Komisarza Narodów Zjednoczonych ds. Uchodźców.

Nagroda Nansena jest przyznawana co roku osobom, grupom lub organizacjom, w uznaniu ich wybitnych działań na rzecz uchodźców. Po raz pierwszy od ustanowienia nagrody w 1954 r. regionalnym zwycięzcą dla Europy została Polska. Wyróżnienie otrzymali Lena i Władysław Grochowscy oraz kierowana przez nich Fundacja Leny Grochowskiej.

Małżeństwo zostało nagrodzone za swoje działania na rzecz uchodźców z Ukrainy, prowadzone od eskalacji wojny 24 lutego 2022 roku. Fundacja włączyła się w pomoc już od pierwszych dni kryzysu humanitarnego, organizując bezpłatne zakwaterowanie w hotelach sieci Arche. Wkrótce utworzyła także sieć Domów Uchodźcy, w których bezpieczne, długoterminowe schronienie może otrzymać każdego dnia 1300 osób. Fundacja Leny Grochowskiej zapewniła dotychczas 584 579 noclegów dla 14 463 osób, które uciekły przed wojną w Ukrainie.

Władysław Grochowski, założyciel Fundacji Leny Grochowskiej i prezes Grupy Arche, obierając Nagrodę Nansena z rąk Filippo Grandiego, Wysokiego Komisarza Narodów Zjednoczonych ds. Uchodźców, powiedział, że odbiera ją w imieniu wszystkich Polek i Polaków, którzy przyjęli tysiące osób z Ukrainy do swoich domów. Odniósł się także do sytuacji na innych granicach.

-Nie zgadzam się na budowę murów, zasieków, deptanie godności człowieka, skazywanie na jakąkolwiek formę cierpienia tylko dlatego, że uchodźcy pochodzą z krajów dotkniętych wojnami, katastrofami klimatycznymi, głodem, wierzą w innego Boga– mówił w Genewie.

Założycielowi Fundacji towarzyszyła w Genewie dyrektor Fundacji Leny Grochowskiej, Aneta Żochowska – kobieta o wspaniałej duszy, wielkim sercu i wrażliwości. Generalnie wokół Fundacji skupiają się wyjątkowe osoby, co daje właśnie tak niebywały efekt synergii dobrej energii. Po prostu wszyscy tam czynią dobro.
